Why do you enjoy coaching?: My love for coaching stems from my genuine desire to make a profound impact on the lives of athletes. I firmly believe that coaching extends far beyond the Xs and Os of the game. For me, it is about nurturing the personal growth, character development, and life skills of each individual I coach.
My Inspiration: Each morning I wake up with breath in my lungs. Being the best version of myself for those who rely on me.

My Story
Coach Mike Scott is a highly accomplished basketball coach and the founder of Renaissance Hoops, an outstanding basketball development program. With a lifelong passion for the sport and an impressive track record, Coach Mike has made a significant impact on the basketball community at various levels.
Coach Mike's basketball journey began at the age of 6 when he first fell in love with the game. His dedication and commitment to basketball led him to play throughout his high school years and even earned him a spot on a collegiate basketball team for a year. Although his playing career took an unexpected turn - fracturing his leg and losing his spot on the team. Although he could no longer play, Coach Mike's love for the game remained unwavering, and he soon found his calling in coaching and training.
At the age of 18, Coach Mike embarked on his coaching journey by joining a middle school team as a head coach. It was during this early coaching experience that he discovered his innate ability to connect with young athletes and nurture their skills and potential. Motivated by the desire to make a lasting impact on the lives of young players, Coach Mike immersed himself in the world of AAU basketball.
Coach Mike quickly became involved in AAU basketball, taking on coaching responsibilities for teams spanning from the 9U level to the 17U level. His coaching expertise, combined with his ability to inspire and develop players, resulted in exceptional performances and numerous accolades for his teams. Through his dedication, he fostered a culture of growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship among his players.
Building on his success in AAU basketball, Coach Mike extended his coaching influence to the scholastic realm. He assumed the role of head coach for multiple JV high school teams, where he honed his leadership skills and consistently guided his teams to notable achievements.
Most recently, Coach Mike served as the lead assistant coach for the Varsity team at Crystal Springs Upland School. In this role, he played an instrumental part in strategizing game plans, mentoring athletes, and fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork. His ability to motivate players, coupled with his basketball acumen, contributed to the team's success and helped elevate the program to new heights.
Inspired by his passion for player development and the desire to create a positive impact on the basketball community, Coach Miked founded Renaissance Hoops. Through this program, he aims to provide aspiring basketball players with comprehensive training, mentorship, and opportunities for growth. Coach Mike's coaching philosophy revolves around holistic player development, emphasizing skill enhancement, basketball IQ, character building, and a love for the game.
Coach Mike's dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to the sport have solidified his position as a respected figure in the basketball community.
